IT Challenge

STABL Energy, a Munich-based company specializing in industrial battery storage systems, was growing fast. But with scaling came the need to evolve internal IT systems as well.

The company hired a full-time system administrator, and this approach worked for a while, but demands quickly outpaced capacity:

First, as a hardware company with specialized lab equipment and a local network infrastructure, the workload was too much for one person — yet not enough to justify hiring a second. First-level support requests, like software access or login issues, were frequent. And the entire IT setup couldn’t rely on just one person, especially during vacation or sick leave.

Second, device management became more complex, particularly in times of rapid hiring. "We didn't have enough time to take care of those very repetitive processes," Michael notes. Tracking company-owned phones and laptops was complicated without a centralized system. STABL briefly considered managing an MDM in-house but realized it would become a major time sink.

Solution
